Nip n’ Toy
There is nothing like this on the market, and your kitty is just going to love it! Each bag contains a hand made raw sheep’s wool ball that is felted around a bell.
The wool is all natural, minimally processed and not dyed. The ball is surrounded by premium catnip. When the catnip is off the ball, put the ball back in the bag and shake it up for more catnip fun. If the ball gets too fuzzy from playing, put it through a washer and the dryer cycle and the wool will tighten back up.
Cats carry this ball around the house like nothing you have ever seen! They just love this toy!

The Secret of Catnip
From Pet Age, April 2010
Why do cats roll around, leap about and go nuts - or just zone out - when they smell or eat catnip?
The answer lies in the chemical nepetalactone, the primary component in the essential oil of the catnip plant (nepeta cataria). Nepetalactone is released from the catnip when cats eat or chew the herb, or kick, claw or bite toys containing it. Response to the herb is hereditary, and researchers estimate that 10 percent to 30 percent of cats don't have the "catnip gene". Kittens don't react until they are about 8 weeks of age. Males and females respond equally, although some evidence suggests males respond a bit more strongly than females. Some experts theorize catnip activates the same neural system in the brain that regulates sexual behavior, because cats roll and squirm under its influence just like female cats in heat do. But since male cats roll around too, and because some of the other behaviors associated with catnip - such as hyperactivity, or conversely, dreaminess - are not associated with feline sexual behavior, others discount the "aphrodisiac" theory. Others cite research of nepetalactone to that of LSD and say catnip seems to have a mild hallucinogenic effect. Cats can't "overdose" on catnip, however. A catnip-induced response typically lasts only 5 to 15 minutes. After that, it takes a few hours for a cat to respond again.
Catnip isn't addicting, either. However, cats can become desensitized to its effects if the herb is given to them frequently. Veterinarians advise offering into more than every few days so it remains a special treat.
